Breaking The Spell

Holly sat there quietly, not quite knowing what to do next, but she felt safe in Patrick's arms. Patrick's gentle and caring side came through once again; it was if he was protecting her from Tom, but little did he know, that Tom was already dead. Dan stood there watching Patrick being Holly's night in shining armour, the hurt in his eyes was so easily seen, but he realised that it would be best to go, and so silently slipped out of the door, and left Holly and Patrick alone.

After a few minutes Patrick came away from Holly, and looked down the corridor, Police officers were approaching the closed ward in which they were sitting. As soon as Holly saw other people she started shaking and she got more and more nervous. Patrick reassured her that everything was going to be okay, and made his way over to the door, in order to stop the officers from coming any nearer.

Patrick in a rude manor snapped at one of them, "can't you see she's in enough distress as it is, what she doesn't need is a bunch of strangers interfering, she will come to you when she is ready!"

The police officer replied, "Ok, I will give you five minutes, and then we really must get her to the station, five minutes, that's all!"

Patrick went back over to Holly, and sat down next to her. Holly was still shaking, but he took her hands in his, looked into her eyes, told her that everything was going to be okay, and that the police just wanted to ask her a few questions. Holly held Patrick's hands even tighter; she leant forward and whispered to him

"Promise you won't let any thing else happen to me?" and Patrick Replied, "I Promise"

At the Police station Holly was reluctant to tell the police much, but after a lot of persuading from Patrick, she started, to very slowly unravel the story.

Hours later, Holly left the police station. Patrick had kindly sat there waiting with her, and decided that it would be best if he were to take Holly to his place, as she was in no fit state to be left alone.

When they arrived at Patrick's Home, it was 7.15 in the morning, the nights ordeal, really had gone on right through the night. Patrick Helped Holly up the stairs, as she was still a little disorientated. He cleaned up her wound, that had been caused when she fell and hit her head off her car. He then took her into his bedroom. Patrick was willing to take the sofa in the lounge, and let Holly have a good nights sleep in a comfy bed. For a moment Holly lay there, she then turned to look at Patrick, who was sitting on the edge of the bed, looking directly at her. Holly reached out her arm, and took Patrick's hand in hers, and thanked him for everything he had done for her that evening. Patrick leant over, and gave Holly a kiss on the forehead. He then turned out the lights, and left the room. When Patrick awoke that afternoon, he found Holly was already up and about, as she hadn't had much sleep. Patrick wished that she had woken him. Holly brought two mugs of coffee through into the Lounge, and they both sat there. For a moment there was an eerie short silence, which was broken by Holly.

"I am so grateful that you took care of me last night."

Patrick was going to come out with a sarcastic comment, but then thought about it for a minute.

"I hated seeing you distressed, and the last thing you needed was to be left alone."

A tear rolled from out of Holly's eye, and kept rolling down her face. Patrick leant over and wiped away the tear. For a moment he caught Holly staring into his eyes, shocked Holly sat back and apologised, she started to put her hair back into a ponytail, but Patrick rested his hand on her arm, which stopped her almost immediately and Holly brought her arms down beside her. Patrick thought to himself, now would probably be the best time to go for it if he ever was to. He leant in towards Holly, this time Holly didn't pull back like she did one Christmas, but she leant forwards too, they had a gentle, lingering kiss. Eventually they pulled apart, and both seemed very happy, as they smiled to one another. Patrick admitted that he had been waiting a little too long for that, and Holly's answer to that was, "I think I have been waiting just long enough, Dr. Spillar."
